Founded in 1891 and enlarged as the existing form in 1911. This building was originally built to store and display the handicrafts of the indigenous communities and local collections of local animals as suggested by our Nature, Alfred Wallace, who carry out work to collect specimens in the Sarawak State at the time.

Since it was built, this building has been modified and improved several times. The longitudinal design, 44 'x 160', the wall and pillars made of brick and concrete and purchase. They are built in accordance with European architectural style by Queen Anne (Victorian era). Galleries are illuminated through the window inside the dome-shaped roof on the building to provide a wide range of wall space.
